Wayne has been working with glass for nine years specialising in fusing and slumping techniques.
His latest collection ‘Relic‘, inspired by his travels around south east asia, include buddhist motifs. The work explores the ways and means that people give worship via offerings. Focusing on the earlier more primitive carvings of statues and votive tablets where the carving has deteriorated yet left traces of the original craftsmanship.
For each piece an individual mould is made and glass is layered onto the mould then fired. to create a bas relief on the surface of the glass, After the initial firing a second firing is needed to create the form.
